Interior Designer position

Unhinged Studio is an Austin based interior design firm that specializes in multi-family, hospitality, and commercial design. We foster collaboration and creativity, and strive to maintain the ideal work/life balance. The ideal candidate for the open Interior Designer position is multifaceted, self-driven and detail-oriented. They must utilize a positive approach to attack tough decisions and surpass all expectations in order to assist and support our small (but mighty) team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • ● Assist Design Team in selecting furniture, fixtures, and finishes

  • ● Prepare digital concept image packages, sample boards, and other presentation materials

  • ● Contact product representatives for quote and sample requests

  • ● Gather and input specifications in FF&E matrix spreadsheet and coordinate integration into design documents

  • ● Coordinate drawings and specifications with external project teams

  • ● Complete meeting minutes after client meetings and conference calls

  • ● Produce Bid, Permit, and Construction Documents; including floor plans, finish installation plans, furniture plans, elevations, sections, details, finish schedules, lighting schedules, door and hardware schedules, specifications of materials, lighting, appliances, equipment and plumbing fixtures

  • ● Maintain project design binders, specification manuals and drawing sets

  • ● Review submittals and shop drawings

  • ● Assist with furniture installation projects, travel required

  • ● Establish and maintain vendor relationships to learn and retain sources for product

  • ● Coordinate vendor presentations for the team

  • ● Assist with the creation of marketing materials and social media content

  • ● Assist Principal with coordinating creative outings and community outreach activities

  • ● Support Principal in both business and personal matters regarding administration, operations, scheduling, and correspondence:

    • - Inform Principal and essential stakeholders of all scheduled items and updates in a timely and efficient way

    • - Check Principal’s emails, respond to invites and email as directed, and in a timely and courteous manner

    • - Schedule personal appointments

    • - Arrange travel itineraries and clearly communicate all travel logistics for Principal (personal and business-related) and Design Team

    • - Answer the phone and greet visitors

    • - Order supplies, stock drinks/snacks

    • - Coordinate marketing and holiday mailings

Required Skills:

  • ● Bachelor Degree from an Interior Design or Drafting (specializing in Revit) program

  • ● 1-4 years interior design experience in corporate, hospitality, and/or multi-family

  • ● Skilled In Revit

  • ● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • ● Possess interpersonal, verbal, written, and graphic communication skills

  • ● Possess minimal knowledge of building and accessibility codes and willingness to learn and retain these codes

  • ● Organizational and technical skills with the ability to develop and execute established design concepts

  • ● Detail oriented, works well under pressure, and able to multitask
